I came a little late for yesterday's "Craziest BMW variant" and because I spent so much time honing my advanced pixlr/photoshop skills (about 3 Minutes 35) I didn't want to deny you the ugly Bimmer truth that's coming to a dealership near you:

Lo and behold the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe GT.

You may think that this is a joke, but look at the proportions. At the lines that go nowhere, that weird butt. That's like straight out of the BMW "How to design a proper GT" manual.

I think it looks good, for a BMW, if we ignore a couple of photoshop hiccups. So what if it sacrifices some of the usual sleekness? It's an effective package that gives you lots of interior space and good aerodynamics whilst retaining the usual BMW styling cues.

I wouldn't usually consider buying a BMW, but if they started building cars like this, it would be on my shortlist in 2014.

Man this is getting a little ridiculous. And ugly. Maybe if their styling was as crisp as Audi's, I'd actually want to see more variants. But given that it's so atrocious, I kind of want to see less. Get this shit fixed BMW.

Oh well, now I ended up giving it a try myself, just to see how such a (6er GranCoupe)*(BMW GT style) Frankenbimmer formula might turn out.

I went for a bit more M-Sport and ended up with this ... having "made" it, I might well be a bit biased, but I don't hate it all that much.

That's okay the people that buy these things buy them because they can... I asked some one I know that has a Gran Coupe How do you like it. Answer its fast it has 465 hp I was like cool what engine does it have i6, v8 or v10 they said I don't know but its fast. I was like no wonder you bought a 4 door coupe.

What struck me as a bit odd is that this somehow looks lighter on its feet than the regular 6-Series or GranCoupe. Maybe that's just me, though.

I think the roof still looks more bulbous than necessary, courtesy of working with the rear section of a silver car and the front of a magnesia-coloured 6er GC. That said, I actually pondered harassing BMW by way of tweeting the picture to them. Thing is: if they are actually planning on making this kind of car, it's long been in the works, so it'll just stick out like a sore thumb.

You could say that the roofline was inspired by the A7, but then that's only a half-truth, as all I worked with was a silver 3-Series GT and that magnesia-coloured GranCoupe with sporty-looking bits. See, it's all BMW . I even left in the 3-Series' rear light cluster, as that works much better with the lines of the car in my opinion.

It probably got eaten by the downsizing applied through Kinja, but I am confident that there was a slight nod to the Hofmeister kink. If you look at the line from the door handle towards the sharper-angled curve in the C/D-pillar window, there's a somewhat rounded-out kink. I'll happily agree that it should probably be a bit more prominent on a BMW car. :)
